AFCAR's programs are not parallel tracks — they are a single, integrated response to the structural gaps facing our civil society and communities. Research informs advocacy. Coordination multiplies both. Gap analysis keeps all three honest.
AFCAR's Research Program produces independent, publicly available analysis in areas where the evidence base is thin, the stakes are high, and credible information can change outcomes.
Our Research Methodology
We combine primary data collection — interviews, field documentation, surveys where accessible — with rigorous secondary analysis and close collaboration with independent researchers and civil-society organizations. All findings are openly published. All methodology is transparent.
Current Research Focus Areas
Advocacy without evidence is assertion. AFCAR's Advocacy Program connects our research directly to policy processes — translating documented findings into arguments that resonate with legislators, diplomats, and international bodies.
Our Advocacy Priorities
How We Engage
Afghan civil-society organizations and diaspora communities are not absent — they are fragmented. Across Afghanistan and the global diaspora, organizations are working on governance, women's rights, education, journalism, and humanitarian response. AFCAR's Coordination Network connects them.
What the Network Provides
AFCAR's gap-analysis approach is what distinguishes our research from conventional reporting. Rather than describing what is known, we systematically identify what is absent — which communities are uncounted, which geographies are unmapped, which populations fall outside the policy frame.
This methodology drives our publication work and our advocacy. When we bring a finding to a policymaker, it is not a restatement of existing knowledge — it is the identification of something missing that demands a response.
Alongside our research, advocacy, and coordination work, AFCAR runs a set of hands-on community programs — smaller in scale, but rooted in the same values of dignity, generosity, and mutual care.
Direct assistance and resource connections for families facing hardship, in the diaspora and in Afghanistan.
Supporting children's access to education and learning resources, so opportunity isn't determined by circumstance.
A community environmental initiative — planting trees as a small, lasting act of care for the places we call home.
Community clean-up efforts that build environmental stewardship and neighborhood pride together.
A peer-support conversation initiative creating space for community members to be heard.
A reflective gathering encouraging honest conversation about emotional and spiritual wellbeing.
A gratitude-centered gathering where community members come together to share, give, and give thanks.
AFCAR's events bring our community and policy work into the same room — forums, briefings, and gatherings rooted in coordination, cultural exchange, and shared purpose.
Details on our past gatherings and convenings will be added here as they're documented.
